Quebec Steamed Day 2026: Win your Lafleur party

When we think of classic Quebec cuisine, poutine often comes to mind first. But for many, the true must-have remains the steamed hot dog, simple, satisfying, and always associated with a good time.

On May 6th, this classic will be in the spotlight with the return of Quebec Steamed Day 2026. And this year, the event is taking a slightly different turn. In addition to gatherings throughout Quebec, a competition is already attracting a lot of attention.

The concept is simple, but quite tempting.

On the occasion of the day, Lafleur launches "Win Your Steamed Party," an initiative that aims to find Quebec's greatest party planners. Those who are always responsible for starting something, inviting people over, or transforming an ordinary evening into a memorable moment.

How to participate?

To participate, simply explain why you are that person in your group and describe what you are planning for May 6th. The idea isn't to have something complicated, quite the opposite. Whether it's at your home, in a backyard, or at the cottage, what matters is the atmosphere you want to create.

The selected individuals will receive everything they need to organize their steamed party, with a value of approximately 750 $. And in some cases, the experiment could go even further.

Mathieu Dufour might even show up on site to add a surprise to the day. The contest runs for a limited time, and entries must include details such as the city and the planned time of the gathering. You can imagine your party anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., because ultimately, there's no wrong time to eat a steamed meal.

Register now!

Meanwhile, Quebec's Steamed Day continues to take shape with the launch of a website that lists participating businesses and events. Restaurants, canteens, food trucks, and local initiatives can already register to announce their participation on May 6.

This aspect is likely to become increasingly important as the date approaches, especially for those looking for what to do or where to go during the day.

But in the end, whether it's to participate in the competition or simply to get involved in the movement, the idea remains the same: to take advantage of a local classic to bring people together. And there's a good chance that, this year, steamed food will become a much better excuse than usual.
